MOORPARK, Calif. – Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST) and its leaders from 20+ countries around the world are joined together to partner with United We Paint to provide HELP of Ojai with a beautification project for its West Campus to show its commitment to the community. In this beautification event, CST and United We Paint helped to transform an old jail into a jewel – turning a derelict jail facility, a symbol of violence and despair, into a Community Center for the city of Ojai. This project occurred on Thursday, February 21st at 12 p.m. and ended at 5 p.m. Activities included painting, minor landscaping, clean-up, and a lunch provided by United We Paint.
Charles (“Chuck”) Treadway, CST president and CEO explained, “Our partnership with United We Paint is an extension of our vision of a bigger and better future as we continue to be actively involved in our community and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. Hands on experiences such as United We Paint combine our heartfelt commitment together with our labor to make a transformational change in the lives of children, seniors, and families in Ojai. We differentiate ourselves in everything we do and I was excited to join our leaders from around the world in picking up brushes and rolling up our sleeves to give back to an organization that has been a pillar in the community of Ojai.”
Executive Director Jeff Zotara stated, “United We Paint was proud to partner with CST and HELP of Ojai. Throughout the history of United We Paint we have sought to serve the health and welfare of children, seniors and those most in need. We discovered an amazing organization in CST willing to unite their resources and assist HELP of Ojai move toward their goals. The beautification project created not only a more inviting environment for the children and families of Ojai, but instills hope and a sense of pride to those that utilize its benefits.”
For more than a generation, non-profit, volunteer-based HELP of Ojai, has assisted thousands of seniors to stay connected, supported childhood well-being, and promoted family health and safety. Today one-in-four residents in the Ojai Valley look to HELP for assistance. HELP’s original two-room “Little House” headquarters has expanded over the years, and is now bursting at the seams. Thus, in July 2006, Ventura County leased this 42-acre old jail facility (at a nominal fee) to HELP, so they can transform it into a vital community assistance center.
Volunteers received an official United We Paint volunteer certificate along with pictures memorializing their experience. Everything was provided by CST through their generous financial contribution and commitment of labor to achieve this feat.
