Kavlico Pressure Sensors are Ideal for Rigorous Flight Critical Applications

MOORPARK, Calif. – Kavlico, a global business unit of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST), now has available a full line of high reliability aerospace and defense/military grade pressure and combined pressure & temperature sensors for rigorous flight critical applications. The hermetically sealed, all-welded sensor housing protects against corrosion and harsh environmental contamination as well as external material damage.

Typical sensor applications include measurement of turbine inlet pressure, hydraulic system health monitoring, and high pressure hydraulic actuator measurements. Kavlico’s flexible manufacturing process allows for semi-custom, full-custom, and application-specific configurations adapted from existing designs.

Kavlico pressure sensors can be supplied with single or multiple sense elements per package in gage, sealed gage, and differential pressures in ranges from <1psi, and 0-300 up to 0-30,000 psi or (20 to 2,100 Bar). These high accuracy sensors can be specified with an isolation diaphragm, environmentally protected sense element, or in a wet/wet configuration.

Other significant features include a typical MTBF of 300,000 hours, an operating temperature range of -65°C to +180°C, with +300°C optional, accuracy of ±1% full scale typical with higher accuracies optional, and excellent long-term stability.

The sensing technologies used are piezo-resistive (PRT), oil filled PRT, ceramic capacitive, and isolated thin film. Sensors can be supplied with a low-level, non-amplified 100 mV output, using a 10V power supply with other power supplies available from 5V to 35V. Fully amplified units are available in standard 0.5 to 4.5 Vdc output with custom output ranges available.

Qualified D0 160, the robust sensors feature a MIL connector or flying leads for the electrical interconnect and pressure port configurations are based upon application-specific requirements. Capable of withstanding high shock and vibration environments, Kavlico’s line of pressure and pressure & temperature sensors provide the reliability and performance demanded by today’s aeronautic industry.
