WALNUT CREEK, Calif. –
Systron Donner Inertial (SDI), an operating division of
Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST), introduces the SDG500, a new compact single-axis MEMS-based Quartz Angular Rate Sensor.
With the SDG500 (Systron Donner Gyro 500 Series), SDI has achieved a price-to-performance ratio breakthrough. Where previously only higher priced units exhibited similar performance levels, the SDG500 Bias stability is expressed in Degrees per Hour—not Degrees per Second and output noise is almost negligible. This unit is a complete sensor featuring the time proven and patented SDI quartz MEMS sensing element and all required electronics in one small package. The end-user needs only to supply a DC voltage for angular rate measurements. The plated aluminum package size (1.30 x 1.30 x 0.62 inches) features a three-point mount with locking I/O connector for easy application implementation. Current production units are available in a rate range of ±200°/sec.
Roger Heilman, Director of Sales & Marketing, stated, “We are very excited to introduce a sensor with a performance level that has previously been unavailable in this price range.” He further cited, “I believe we are going to set a new standard in low-cost / high-performance rate sensors.”
The SDG500’s performance specifications include an operating temperature of -40° to +85°C (Storage -55° to +95°C), random operating vibration of 5grms with a DC Rectification of <36°/hr/grms (20grms survival), and a shock level rated to 200g PK (1/2sine@2msec). Also featured is a low input voltage of + and – 10 to 15 Vdc, input current of <20mA each supply, and an internal temperature sensor.
Systron Donner Inertial (SDI) is an operation of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST). SDI is a world leader in quartz MEMS inertial sensors and systems. SDI’s high performance products include rate sensors, multi-axis systems, IMUs and INS/GPS systems. CST is a division of Schneider Electric. CST was formed from the combination of BEI Technologies, Kavlico and Crouzet. CST provides sensors, controls and actuation products to the industrial, transportation and military/aerospace markets. www.systron.com
