CST Highlights Pressure, Inertial and Position Sensors at the ConExpo/IFPE Show
CST exhibited at the ConExpo/IFPE show in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from March 11-15, where we featured Pressure Sensors from Kavlico, Inertial Sensors from Systron Donner Automotive, and Position Sensors and Switches from BEI Duncan Electronics and Crouzet to the construction and agricultural vehicle market sector.
Pressure Sensors - Featured
products included high pressure sensors (0-40,000 psi) with high
accuracy and high-temperature capability used for applications such as:
- Direct fuel injection, hydraulic brake pressure, in-cylinder pressure and general hydraulic pressures
- Next generation ceramic capacitive sensors
which are small in size and weight, are high accuracy and utilize a
well-proven electronics design which can be used for applications such
as engine oil pressure, HVAC and exhaust back pressure
- Kavlico emission control pressure sensors
Inertial Sensors - Theses devices utilize a field-proven quartz tuning fork sense element... the MicroGyro.
Sensor clusters can be customized with the degrees of freedom required
to fit the application specific requirement. Applications include:
- Electronic
Stability Control (ESC), headlamp control, navigation and location,
intelligent cruise control and bucket load leveling.
Position Sensors - Potentiometric linear and rotary contacting and Hall Effect rotary non-contacting sensors were presented for steer-by-wire,
throttle position, wheel angle, draft sensing and hitch height.
These field-proven position sensors are rugged by design and ideal for
medium and high volume applications in harsh environmental
conditions. Both custom and standard packaging is
available. CST's BEI Duncan Electronics is the industry leader
for Hall Effect sensors for the agriculture and construction equipment
market. |

NEMA DIN34 Series Brushless DC Motors (BLDCs)
BEI Kimco Magnetics'
NEMA standard 3.4-inch diameter motors are the latest addition to their
growing family of motion control products. Typical operating
speeds range from 6,000 RPM to 18,000 RPM with continuous stall (and
peak) torque ratings of 50 oz.-in (120 oz.-in), 100 oz.-in (250
oz.-in), and 135 oz.-in (350 oz.-in) respectively. This BLDC
motor is ideal for sterile environments - since there are no brushes,
no particulate is discharged.

CST Website... In Simplified Chinese!
In
February, CST launched its current site in Simplified Chinese.
The site will support CST sales and promotion efforts in this emerging
market. The bustling Chinese economy is one that CST will be
focusing upon and increasing our sales and promotional resources in.
Having our website in Chinese will make it much easier to do business
and capture opportunities in that market. The site will have all
of the features presently on the existing CST site with links to all of
the CST entities. Especially of interest will be Crydom, BEI Ideacod and Crouzet who also have Chinese sites which can be connected to directly from the CST site in Chinese.

Logic Puzzle for March
A fictional character by the name of Mr. Sunshine was driving to
the beach for day full of great surfing in southern California. While
driving, he noticed that in the six numbers on his odometer in his car,
the last four numbers were such that it created a palindrome - this means that
the digits read the same forward as they do backwards. After
driving for one more mile, the last five digits of the odometer read as
palindromic. After driving for yet another mile, the middle four digits
of the odometer read as palindromic. And after putting one more mile on
his 1982 station wagon - with surfboard protruding through the rear window - ALL six digits revealed a palindromic number.
What is the initial odometer reading?
*Use
the above image as a guide. The "X"s represent the unknown numbers in
the odometer readings. The green shading represents the numbers which,
when solved, will read palindromic. Good luck!
