Supermarket refrigeration systems, rooftop chillers, walk-in fast-food restaurant freezers, and refrigeration rail cars vary greatly in size and appearance; yet, they all share the same basic principles of refrigeration. In each system, pressure sensors are vital in controlling the refrigeration cycle and keeping the system efficient.

From the advent of padded dashboards, to seat belts and airbags, vehicle safety has evolved substantially over the decades, and electronics - especially sensors - have played and will continue to play a significant role in the continued evolution of Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). Once reserved for high-end vehicles, VSC will be a US mandate by 2012, so even the tiniest sub-compact cars will have a cutting-edge VSC system onboard. Cleaning Up Emissions and the Air We Breathe

Did you know that auto emissions are 75 to 90% cleaner than they were before the US Federal Emissions Standards were enacted in 1970 according to Catherine Milbourn EPA spokesperson. Why? The introduction of catalytic converters, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), diesel particulate filters (DPF), and reformulated fuels are the main reasons why the vehicles on the road today pollute the air we breath with exceedingly less contaminants than the cars of yesteryear. In Europe just as in the US, emission reduction is paramount. CO2 emissions are monitored and Urea is injected into the exhaust stream to neutralize pollutants thereby dramatically reducing emissions.

Multi-Turn Absolute Encoder Goes "Green"

BEI Ideacod's new range of compact, multi-turn absolute encoders "Posi+" are an ideal fit for wind power control applications. The Posi+ is used to monitor blade position as well as measure the speed and consequently the power output while also aiding in the orientation of the wind turbine. High Precision Absolute Encoder

BEI Industrial Encoders' new Model L18 absolute encoder provides system designers with high resolution in a small mounting footprint. This model features 13 bits (8192 counts) per turn resolution in only a 1.8-inch servo package. Because it is optically based, the Model L18 has the precision to be used in applications that demand high performance along with small size and weight. The L18 absolute encoder contains field-proven ASIC electronics, sealed bearings and BEI's accurate code disk in an all-metal housing to ensure its ruggedness and reliability.

Systron Donner Inertial Introduces their new MEMS-based Vertical Gyro (MMQ-VG), and Attitude, Heading and Reference System (MMQ-AHRS)

Systron Donner Inertial's two new products, MMQ-VG and MMQ-AHRS, are fully functional Quartz MEMS sensor-based systems housed in a compact and light weight package. At the heart of each unit is SDI's Six-Degree-of-Freedom MEMS Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which provides a highly accurate Roll, Pitch, and Heading (AHRS only) angle solution in varying dynamic conditions.
